easter island  the light & the land, Portfolio 7

Easter Island is one of the most remote islands in the world. A place where I could observe the curvature of the earth on the horizon of the Pacific ocean that surrounds it. A truly absorbing place that is in itself a national park containing extinct volcanoes, moai statues, petroglyphs and Hanga Roa, a village where over 3,000 Rapanuin's live.

Mata-Ki-Te Rangui, the eyes that speak to the sky.

Te Pito o te Henua, the navel of the world

Whilst many of the subjects demanded to be captured in colour, there were many moments when it was clear that Easter Islands' Moai, situated in often bleak but beautiful locations, asked to be captured in black and white.

This collection of images has therefore been split into two distinct portfolios that deal with each medium.

I hope you enjoy looking at the images from both collections as much as I enjoyed my time spent on Easter Island capturing them
