| Prayer offerings in the Scottish Borders Situated in a quiet valley in south west Scotland lies a Buddhist monastery called Samye Ling. Initially I was attracted to come and photograph here because of my interest in other cultures. Hoping to build up a collection of portraits of the nuns and monks, I came away instead with a collection of images ranging from close up macro's of beautiful prayer offerings left next to a shrine, to images of some of the Buddhists with their leader Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche. Sometimes, it's not the bigger picture that tells the story. Sometimes it's the detail, the small things. In this case, it was the miniature prayer offerings and ornate statues of Samye Ling that drew me in. |
